Last posting for a while

Hi!

I've added some links to Norwegian pirate radio sites. I Hope they're of interest to some of you. (Check out Piratradioarkivet to find out how Norwegian FM pirate radio used to sound!)

This will be the last posting on this blog for a while, I think. If I hear something, I'll post my loggings on the Alfa Lima forum.

This weekend

Finally an update here... I think this will be the last update for a while. From now on I'll post my loggings on the Alfa Lima forum instead (see link section). No point in having a blog when it's updated this seldom, I think.

Now, this is what I heard over the weekend (I didn't listen much - just checked the band every now and again):

(All times and frequencies a bit approximate...)

FRIDAY

1617 Radio Armada noted on the wedium wave loop. (In order to get good reception on MW I have to listen outside, on the terrace. So I don't do that so often.) SIO 343
6300 Radio Quintus noted with non stop music some time in the early afternoon. SIO 343.
6308 Radio Kentucky quite strong here in the evening.

SATURDAY

6270 UNID Dutch stn at 1408. SIO 333
6275 Laser Hot Hits SIO 232 at 1230.
6281 Black Power in QSO with RSI. at 1236 SIO 242.
6281 Radio Scotland Int. at 1243 UTC "in possible QSO with Black Power", as he put it... SIO 343
6286 Radio Boemerang at 1409 possibly with a report for R. Titanic. SIO 434

6290 Radio Mazda at 1231 UTC playing Shocking Blue, among other things. SIO 343

Radio Joystick

I tried to record Radio Joystick's px on 9290 kHz this morning (I had other things to do and couldn't listen). But for some reason the mp3 player stopped working after 20 minutes or so. Anyway, I enjoyed those 20 minutes of electronic music. Nice to listen to while washing up. SINPO 55555 - it just can't get any better!

This Weekend

It's been a good Sunday here. Had a long walk in the sunshine while listening to Radio Delta on the mp3 player. Excellent stuff! Fantastic signal and good music.

The log:

Friday

6310 kHz Delta Radio with rock music at 1928 UTC. Tested new antenna and mentioned radio fair in Bad Bentheim. Very good signal! SINPO 44334

Saturday

6306 kHz Radio Kentucky Int. playing Dutch and German music at 1820 UTC. Ok signal, but some QRM from other stn on nearby fq. Moved to 6308 at some point. SIO 333

6325 kHz Radio Waves Int. with country mx and jingles at 1946. Talk in French. A bit diffcult to copy in spite of quite good signal. SINPO 33232

6325 kHz Radio Delta tonight as well! Great! First noted at 2049 UTC. Very good signal. SINPO 43434

Sunday

5720 kHz Orion Radio at 0650 UTC. Theme tune at 0700 as usual. Good reception, good px. SINPO 33443.

Radio Sonar noted briefly on 6206 at 0805 (SIO 242). Radio Devalon noted briefly on 6270 at 0848.

This weekend

An interesting experiment today (Monday): The electricity went out in large parts of Oslo today, so I went to the radio room and checked the bands. No noise!!! Like in the middle of the Nordmarka forest... I wish it could be like that whenever I want to listen to pirates. (I don't know if anyone from the electricity company reads this...)

Saturday:

Radio Brandaris was on air for a long time in the evening on 6306. Ok signal here, but the splatter from the stn on 6300 was annoying at times. German Schlager music and polka. Nice programme! SINPO 33332

Radio Boemerang was noted on 6315 at 1937 UTC. SINPO 44334

Sunday:

I was listening to Radio Orion from 0655 UTC or so on 5720 kHz (or rather: I recorded him on the mp3 player and listened to him a few hours later while taking a walk in my new neighbourhood). Good signal at the beginning, but gradually weaker. Last day of John's summer vacation... SIO 343

Later, there was Radio Zodiac on 6322 kHz. He sounded a bit distorted at first, but everything improved when he switched off and came back with reduced power. The power reduction did not seem to affect the signal at my side. Enjoyable music and jingles. SINPO 34333

Friday

We had a visit from Arvid (FM DXer/pirate listener) and Bente yesterday. (Hello to both of you! Always nice to see you!)

After the guests had left, I switched on the radio and listened to Radio Quintus for half an hour or so on 3928 (the UK DXer says 3927). Mostly Dutch music. Good signal - SINPO 44333. After that (don't know exactly when he switched on) there was Radio Atlantis on the same fq playing rock music and jingles. More or less same signal as Quintus - SINPO 44333. Thanks for the entertainment, guys!

Very weak signal noted on 6310 at around 2200 UTC. Probably either Condor or West Coast (see the UK DXer's blog).

Sunday's log

Strange ... The daytime noise level at my QTH has fallen from severe to ... quite acceptable!

I checked the 48 m band a couple of times during the day yesterday. At 0958 UTC I heard Radio Scotland Int. signing off on 6208 kHz. He had a very good signal here - SIO 444. At around the same time I heard several other stations on the band, but they were all very weak.

From 1230 UTC and for 25 minutes or so I was listening to Radio Tina on 6310. [I got the ID wrong in the initial version of this post.] Poor to fair signal here: SIO 242/343. Shadows, Abba, Bellamy Brothers... Nice programme! At the same time, Radio Zodiac was on 6322 with more or less the same signal strength as Tina.

From 1908 UTC I was listening to Weekend Music Radio for half an hour or so. They were commemorating the introduction of the Marine Broadcasting Offences Act in 1967. SINPO 34233.

Mystery Radio were strong all evening on 6220.
